What we collect
Account data (name, e-mail, hashed password or Apple/Google identifier), profile (photo, cover, bio, @handle, language, country, genres of interest and favorite works), content you post (texts, photos, moments, comments, reviews, likes, saved items), your shelf, reading logs, groups, achievements and experience points, people you follow, mute and block, reports, in-app usage events (such as opening the app or saving a recommendation, used only to measure what works), your Plus subscription status (plan, expiry and renewal; never card details), your position and progress in Library books, the reading languages and discovery preferences you choose and, if you allow it, your device notification token. If you want, we also keep your city: it is optional, typed by you (never detected from your device) and used only for "Readers in your city", which you can turn off or erase at any time.
Library and reader
So you can read, the app keeps a temporary copy of the book and your position on the device. Your position is also stored on the server so you can continue on another device. When you sign out, the copies and positions kept on the device are deleted. To decide the catalog, we count in aggregate how many people see a book, open the sample, subscribe and read; these numbers never show who read, and groups of fewer than 5 people are not shown. Opening a sample or reading part of a book does not change your shelf: it only changes when you choose. If you declare that you are 18 or older to open 18+ books, we keep that declaration and its date.
What we do not collect
We do not collect location, contacts or advertising data, and we do not track you across other apps. The camera and photo library are used only when you choose a photo.
How we use it
To run the app: show your profile and posts, build the feed, charts and challenges, send notifications you turned on, send password reset codes, moderate reports and keep the service safe. We do not sell your data.
Who sees what
Your profile, public posts, reviews, moments, favorites and achievements are visible to people with a Plotume account. You choose whether each post is public or followers-only, and whether your shelf is public, followers-only or private. Taste comparisons only use what the other person is allowed to see. Group posts and moments are visible to members only. Rankings use public content only, and country or global rankings only appear when enough people take part. Your city is not shown on your profile or to other people: while "Show me in Readers in your city" is on (Settings › Privacy), you are listed, without the city or any extra data, to people who entered the same city and also turned the option on. People suggestions always carry a real reason (similar taste, who the people you follow follow, shared groups or the same city), never include people you blocked or muted, and use only what each person lets others see.
Service providers
We use providers for hosting, e-mail delivery and notifications (Expo/Apple/Google). Plus payments are made through Apple; RevenueCat receives your Plotume account identifier and App Store receipts to confirm the subscription. Catalog searches are sent to Open Library and TMDB without identifying you. We do not use third-party analytics or advertising tools.
Retention and deletion
We keep data while your account exists. When you delete your account we erase your profile, posts, photos, comments, shelf, achievements, reading positions and Library events. Deleting your account does not cancel your App Store subscription. Moments expire after 24 hours. Backups are replaced within 30 days.
Your rights
Under GDPR, LGPD and similar laws you can access, correct, export and delete your data and object to processing. Edit your profile in the app, delete your account in Settings or write to plotume.support@gmail.com.
Minors
Plotume is intended for adults 18 and over and does not knowingly collect data from minors. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, it will be closed and its data deleted.
